Budget Liquid Eyeliners

Today we're talking liquid eyeliners. I've heard marvellous things about high-end brands (*cough* Kat Von Dee Tattoo liner, swoooon!) but I have only ever used drugstore, budget products so I thought I would share my picks of the bunch!

Right - Maybelline, Middle - Rimmel, Left - Seventeen
First up on my list is a little new one from Maybelline - called Master Ink Matte. I couldn't find it online (sighhhhh) so this is one for you to track down in the shops. I picked this up in Boots for £4.99 and at that price you can't really go wrong - I had mixed expectations to say the least. Upon testing it, I found that the formula is just the right consistency to work with; not too thick and not too thin, so far so good! It dries very quickly too, leaving you that sleek matte finish in no time which I loved - though you can't really see it in the picture - soz. The nib is also so easy to work with making application a breeze! In terms of its staying powers it is great - I usually suffer from watery eyes and this didn't budge like others I have tried. However, I did find that towards the end of the day it needed a bit of a top up (but nothing major). Such a great liner at a great price - highly recommend!

Now, I used to swear by this next one. It's the Rimmel London GlamEyes liquid liner. When I went through my grunge/scene phase I used to lather this stuff across my eyelids like there was no tomorrow (we've all been there right?) Any who, that was about 5 years ago and this gem is still top rated in my books. As seen in the picture above it's not as black as the others but gives a more subtle look if that's what you're after. It is also quite watery in consistency making it difficult to work with at first but it's easy to get used to after a while. The nip is a lot more flexible than the Maybelline liner which I think makes doing the coveted flick much easier. The only downside is that is does come off without a lot of persuasion - so best to use this on days where hay fever doesn't strike or when you don't have a cold!

Lastly, it's the Seventeen Tattoo Me Semi Permanent liquid liner. Crikey, when they semi permanent it seriously will not budge. After swatching for photo purposes, I ended up scrubbing at my hand for aaaaaages only for it not to come off - writing this post now it's still there, what a lovely black stain on my hand. It is a very black satin formula which is absolutely gorgeous - though is quite a thick consistency so be careful not to have too much on the nib at once. It dries quickly and nothing can get this baby off. Love it.

What eyeliners do you swear by?
